Colchis. Bladdernut (Staphylea colchica), a deciduous shrub or small tree native to Georgia and named not for any resemblance to the genus. Colchicum, but for the old west. Georgian kingdom of Colchis. It produces its mildly scented white flowers in late spring and they are followed by the inflated papery seedpods shown here, hence the name bladdernut.
