Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd' (syns 'Emeraude', 'Emerald', 'Emerald. Green'), a pyramidal cultivar of an eastern North American coniferous tree. Similar to the widely grown 'Fastigiata', 'Smaragd' is shorter, around 5m tall, and has a broader base. Due to its hardiness, neat habit and dense year-round green foliage it has become very popular since its introduction in the mid-1950. Order: Pinales, Family: Cupressaceae
