Mountain Chickweed (Stellaria roughii), a summer-flowering New Zealand alpine found on mountain screes at 1000-2000m altitude. Not to be confused with the similar. Gray-leaved Succulent (Lignocarpa carnosula). This is probably the most common scree plant on Foggy. Peak, where this shot was taken, and can be found throughout the scree. It is shown here with its flowers closed (they open only in the sun), which better illustrates the camouflaging effect of the gray foliage. stellaria-2526htm'>Stellaria.
