Colchis. Bladdernut (Staphylea colchica), a deciduous shrub or small tree native to Georgia and named not for any resemblance to the genus. Colchicum, but for the old west. Georgian kingdom of Colchis. It produces its mildly scented white flowers in late spring that are followed by inflated papery seedpods seen here, hence the name bladdernut.
