Severe damage to the trunk of a large. Weeping Willow (<i>Salix babylonica</i>) after a brach was torn off in a storm. Note the degree of hollowing and rot in the trunk, to the extent that the remnants of a bird's nest can be seen in the hollow. This deciduous tree is found over much of the temperate. Middle. East and Asia, often grows near watercourses, reaches as much as 20m tall and has strongly pendulous branches. Order: Malpighiales, Family: Salicaceae
