Seedheads of Curled Dock (Rumex crispus), a perennial weed, originally of European origin, that is now widely distributed. Its strong, deep taproots make it difficult to remove by hand. The leaf veins and flower stems are often red-tinted. Curled Dock has narrower leaves than those of Rumex obtusifolius) and the edges are twisted. It also tends to grow in damper places and can be semi-aquatic. Here it has colonised estuarine riverbanks. Order: Caryophyllales, Family: Polygonaceae
