Sow Thistle (Sonchus oleraceus) after flowering, as the seedheads are drying off and plant starting to die. This quick growing annual daisy has succulent stems and leaves that exude a milky sap when cut. The leaves have deep lobes that are sharply toothed but not spiny. Sow thistle can grow to 15m tall, occurs in many parts of the world and is considered to be a weed that grows strongly enough to compete with cultivated crops.
