Raoulia hectorii, a small, spreading scabweed that forms a mat of foliage rosettes made up of tiny silver-grey leaves. It can grow to 40cm wide and is found in the subalpine and alpine regions of the South Island of New Zealand, where it is uncommon and considered to be threatened in the wild. It prefers to grow in gravelly soil and its silver-grey colouration makes it hard to see among the similarly coloured stones and pebbles. Minute white to cream flowerheads appear from early summer
