Rhododendron montroseanum, a late winter- to early spring-flowering tree-sized, grande series species from western China and northern Burma. Its flowers are usually deep pink, but the near white form flushed with deep pink is not uncommon. The flower trusses are quite large but may appear small simply because of the size of the heavily-veined leaves, which are often over 30cm long
