The underside of the leaf of a Raspberry (Rubus idaeus), a 15-2m tall deciduous Eurasian shrub that forms a clump of erect, strong-growing canes that are bristly rather than prickly. Its white flowers appear in spring and develop quickly into the familiar edible red fruits. Autumn-fruiting or everbearing raspberries are often pruned back hard in winter so they produce a single late season crop. Raspberries are popular for eating fresh, but the texture of the fruit does not appeal to all, so they are perhaps better known in pulped form, used as a flavouring. Order: Rosales, Family: Rosaceae
