Early Tamarisk (Tamarix parviflora) in autumn against a high tide. This large deciduous shrub or small tree is native to Europe and is often found in coastal areas. Its branches have a somewhat arching habit and the plant can be distinguished from most of the other commonly grown tamarisks in that it flowers on the old wood in spring, rather than on the new growth in summer. The flower colour ranges from pale greyish pink to a dusky reddish pink. tamarix-2300htm'>Tamarix. Tamaricaceae. Order: Caryophyllales
