Rhododendron pachysanthum (syn. Rhododendron venturi), a small densely foliaged shrub native to Taiwan where it occurs at around 3300m altitude. It is cultivated as much for its foliage, which has a thick rusty brown indumentum on both sides until mature, when the upper surfaces become green, as for its white to pale pink flowers.
