Mongolian Oak (<i>Quercus mongolica</i>) in autumn. This very frost hardy, deciduous tree is native to Japan, Korea, Mongolia and neighbouring areas of China and Siberia. It can grow to as much as 30m tall, though 18m is the norm, an it has a broad and dense crown. It develops very little autumn foliage colour, the leaves simply browning off, often remaining hanging on the tree well into winter. Order: Fagales, Family: Fagaceae
