Gaultheria mucronata (syn. Pernettya mucronata), a 50-15m high evergreen shrub native to Chile and Argentina. The leaves are tipped with tiny spines and in spring it produces heads of small, pendulous, white bell-shaped flowers that by late summer have developed in to showy berries that range in colour from white through pink to red. This natural variation has led to the development of a range of cultivars. gaultheria-2404htm'>Gaultheria. Order: Ericales, Family: Ericaceae
