Reddish-bronze new growth on Twiggy. Heath. Myrtle (Sannantha virgata [syns. Babingtonia virgata, Baeckea virgata]), an evergreen, 2m high and wide shrub found in a small area in the ranges of northeastern Victoria, Australia. It has small, narrow leaves that taper to a sharp point and an abundance of tiny white to cream flowers from late spring. It could easily be mistaken for a Leptospermum species but is generally smaller and less robustly built in both leaf and flowers. The classification of this species is rather confused and some forms previously included with Baeckea virgata are now classified as Sannantha bidwillii. sannantha-3277htm'>Sannantha. .
